This module address the care of infants up to 1 year of age.
Infants rarely collapse due to a primary heart problem. Cardiac arrest is usually secondary to other events, such as major trauma or respiratory illness. Therefore rescuers must be able to recognise and promptly treat early signs of respiratory and circulatory failure to prevent cardiac arrest.
However, when an infant turns unconscious, learning how to perform Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) will help increase the chance of survival for the casualty.
